I have been using a 2 TB Time Capsule drive. However, recently that drive has begun to encounter (-1 errors) that Disk Utility has been unable to prevent. Rather than pursue the matter further for now, I have begun using a spare 2 TB Seagate drive as my Time Machine Backup device. If at some point I am able to resolve the problem on the Time Capsule Drive, will it be possible to use that drive for something other than a Time Machine Drive? Is there software/firmware in the Airport device that would prevent usage of the onboard drive for anything other than a Time Machine Bakup?

The drives in Time Capsules are just standard drives. So you can re-use it. But with drives so cheap now, I'm not sure you would want to.
