To sync everything with f.e. with Dropbox like Mail, Contacts, TextExpander and so on. Cant I just put the whole Library folder into Dropbox? And if, which Library folder would it be?
As I have read in some forums they always do it with symbolic links. I don’t understand why this is necessary.
Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards
André

I doubt this would work. It might work somewhat, but I bet it would cause trouble. You'd have to track down a lot of preference files, contacts, etc. Then experiment a bit. Then you'd have to worry about what happens when they are out of sync.
It is not something I would recommend.
Plus, Bookmarks and Contacts are one thing (simple databases). But Mail is another. I would NOT try to sync mail this way. I would just use an IMAP, Exchange or MobileMe solution so that your Mail is in the "cloud" and syncing isn't needed.
Why not just use MobileMe for this? It is exactly what it does and has special hooks into all of these programs?
Hi Gary
Thank you for the advise. I would like to have an online backup and sync service. The 20 GB of iDisk is not a lot and the generally feedback of the iDisk is also not really great.
I would use MobileMe for syncing contacts, events and bookmarks. If you want to have an online backup of your data, I would treat that as a separate thing. MobileMe really doesn't offer large backups like that. But there are other services.
