Syncing Snow Leopard Address Book with Gmail Contacts with iTunes

Is there a way to force the Snow Leopard Address Book to OVERRIDE the entries in Gmail Contacts when syncing through iTunes?

Not sure what you mean by "syncing through iTunes." What are you syncing, exactly? I'm not sure why you would be using iTunes to sync your contacts with your Mac's Address Book.

I'm syncing my Mac Address Book with my Gmail Contacts. In AddressBook under Preferences under Accounts there's a Synchronize with Google option. When I connect my iPhone to my Mac and sync it that then syncs my Mac AddressBook with Google. My iPhone AddressBook is synced over the air with MobileMe.

Since this wasn't clear from my first question, perhaps I'm doing this in a convoluted way.

So, perhaps a better first question is, "What's the best way to automatically sync my Mac AddressBook with my Gmail contacts?"

So it sounds like you are syncing both MobileMe and Google Gmail contacts. So why not just turn off MobileMe contacts and only sync your Google Gmail ones?

Syncing with MobileMe puts the contacts in Apple's cloud, which I can then access from AddressBook on my iPhone and iPad and other Macs.

Syncing with Gmail puts the contacts in Gmail, which I use whenever I need an e-mail address to e-mail to from Gmail.

Syncing with MobileMe happens over the air.

Is there a way to sync with Gmail other than through iTunes with the iPhone?

Why not just add Gmail as an account on your iPhone? Then in the account settings, select to sync contacts as well.

Yes, I've done that. That gives me access to e-mail addresses on my iPhone that are stored in Gmail. But I won't have access to phone numbers in my contacts on my iPhone unless the iPhone is synced with my AddressBook on my Mac, so that's why I'm syncing with both.

    Maybe I'm confused.

My main repository for both phone numbers and e-mail addresses is in AddressBook on my Mac.

I want the e-mail addresses synced to Gmail, because I use Gmail from anywhere.

And I want the phone numbers synced to my iPhone because I make phone calls.

So, from that, I concluded that I need to sync with both MobileMe for the phone and Gmail for Gmail.

    Is that not right?
