Hi Gary – Do you still recommend the freeware “Time Machine Editor” to override TM’s annoying hourly backup schedule? I see that the most version is dated 2009. Anything newer or better in your opinion?

You know, I haven't used it in a while. I've just opted to let the backups happen every hour and I stop them if they ever get in the way (if I am shooting or editing video).
But if it still works, I would use it. Being 2009 doesn't mean that it is out of date. That's when Snow Leopard came out and Time Machine hasn't changed much since 2009 either. Give it a try.
