Traceroute through Terminal

Hi Gary, since my Facebook was loading slowly, I typed in traceroute www.facebook.com in Terminal to see how many hoops my request had to jump through… the terminal doesn’t stop…after few lines of ip address it keeps typing * marks.. what is the key to kill the current operation in Terminal? And is this behaviour indicative of a slow/messed up Facebook server?

Thanks!

Use Control+C to break out of any running application in the Terminal.
But why use Terminal for this? Run Network Utility. This application comes with your Mac and has a nice Traceroute function. And other things.
I don't know if this is a problem with Facebook servers -- I haven't looked into that.
