Transferring iCal contacts to GMail

How can I get a new GMail account to import all my contacts that I have in iCal or get iCal to export to GMail? Thanks.

Is a one-time import and/or export what you really want to do? Wouldn't you really want them to sync?
To do that, you can go to iCal, Preferences, Accounts. Then add a new account of type "Google" to link to your Gmail calendars. Then you have a calendar that appears in both iCal and Gmail. You can update/view from either.

Sorry...I meant in my address book on my Mac. I would like to have all my contacts on both my Mac and GMail be the same without having to do it manually. Does it work the same way with a Yahoo account?

Address Book contacts? Not sure. There isn't a way to add a Google account to Address Book. I'd just search through the Google options -- but there may not be a way to do it. Not sure at all about Yahoo (don't use it).

OK. I just added Googles calendar and it now shows up in my iCal but the Google calendar isn't synced to iCal. It is only showing my US Holiday calendar that I subscribe to. Am I missing a step to get me Google calendar to show all the dates that are on my iCal?

So you added a Google account to iCal. That's a new calendar. It won't bring all of the events on your old calendar to the new one. You should be able to drag and drop them across, maybe. Not sure. But you didn't "link" your old calendar to Google -- you just added your Google calendar to iCal. See what I mean?
