Travelling with iPhone

We will be going on a trip soon and taking Iphone 4.
Two questions:
1) If we rent some movies from Itunes prior to our trip, can we watch them in the plane on iphone (on Airplane mode). Or do you need to be able to connect to the Internet via Itunes? Do the rented movies actually get downloaded onto the iPhone?
2) Considering getting extra battery pack from Morphie. However, will we be able to charge the battery pack unit by plugging into the wall? We will not take our laptop so cannot connect via USB. Please advise

Rented movies will download and sit on your iPhone. You have 30 days to start the movie, and once started you have 24 hours to complete it. Yes, you can start it while on an Airplane and not connected.
Not familiar with that battery pack in particular. Check to see what the info on it says. Many come with chargers and/or you can also use your iPhone's charger to charge the battery (standard USB power).
