when starting Safari now go to last site, want to start clean..??

For some reason, when I open Safari, it takes me to the last site I visited. Want to start to a default site. Used to do that, but now does not. In preferences? Help…just annoying…thanks, as always…

That's the Resume function built into Lion. You can turn that off in the System Preferences, General.
But that turns it off for everything (Pages, etc.).
Instead, you may just want to get into the habit of closing your Safari window instead of or before quitting Safari.
I never see this issue because I never quit Safari. If I am done looking at the web pages (all pages in all tabs) then I close the window. So Safari is still running, but with no windows open. I guess I could quit at that point, but I don't since there's not much of an advantage to it (a tiny bit of memory back, I guess).

    Instead of Command + Q, Hold: Option + Command + Q.
