Why Custom Ringtone Won’t Work With iOS 5

I created a custom ringtone which previously worked on my iPhone 4 (Verizon). Now the ringtone doesn’t work. It is listed on my iPhone under ringtones, but it doesn’t show up on the list in Settings, Sounds, Ringtone. I downloaded the free ones from MacMost, and they show up. Why do you suppose my custom one won’t?

Try removing it from the iPhone and then adding it back again.
I've heard many reports from people that they have had to do this for the phone to recognize their custom ringtones again.

My wife's contact picture and ringtone stopped working after IOS5. I reset the phone and reloaded everything last night and it work fine with a test call from her iPhone. Today she called and NO picture NO custom ringtone. I'm not sure if this started with 5.0 or 5.01.
    Please help...thanks.

Perhaps you have multiple contacts for that number?

I did find her phone number in my profile as spouse. That is the only other reference to that number. I'll have to wait until she calls to see if removing it solves the problem.

Did not solve the problem. In addition to NO picture and NO ringtone, NO name either. The incoming call acts as a unknown call with the phone number and location. I should have mentioned in addition to the IOS, I'm using an iPhone 4S. It always worked worked on my iPhone 4.

Perhaps a visit to the Genius Bar will sort it out.

Sometimes first-hand help is the best way to get a problem sorted out.
