I understand that MacBook Airs, the new models at least, have solid state drives. Also, I understand they don’t have physical ports for storage devices. Do those conditions limit the installation / use of Windows on this machine? Thanks.

I don't believe so. You'll need to find a way to get Windows ON the machine, though, like the sold-separately CD/DVD drive. But besides that, it shouldn't pose any issues.
There shouldn't be any issues since Apple provides all of the necessary components to run Windows on the Install Media.
