You do that in iPhoto and iTunes. Use iTunes to determine which albums are synced between your Mac and iPhone. Use iPhoto to determine which photos are included in those albums.

How do I delete phone photos out of my “Photo Library” folder?

You can’t delete pictures that you synced from your Mac. You remove them by not syncing them. In iTunes you decide which photo albums you sync, or to sync all. In iPhoto you can create photo albums. SO if you only want certain pictures to sync to your iPhone, then create a custom photo album in iPhoto and set iTunes to only sync that one photo album.

Hi I dont have a delete function within my Photo Library. Nor does it appear as a sync option in iTunes.

The only options I have are to email the photo, assign to Contact or use as wallpaper. There is no way I can actually delete via iphone or via iTunes. Very odd and very obscure..

I used Image Capture to download the pictures in the Camera Roll album. The quality isn’t so bad. Around 700 KB each.

No, I’m pretty sure there is nothing built into the photo album viewer that will act as a passcode for just that one app.

Is there a way of setting a passcode on the camera album folder on the iphone??

I already have the passcode set up when you unlock the phone, but can I put another on the photo album? Thanks

You could preview those photos and then press the sleep/wake and home buttons simultaneously which would take a photo of that photo an it would be saved in your camera roll?? I unfortunately have the same problem and I’ve had to either email them or use flikit or flikr

One of the problems is that there are no full copies of these photos on your phone. They have been shrunk and compressed so they don’t take up too much space. So you can’t get your originals back, only small copies. And if you email them it is worse because they are compressed even more to be sent in an email. There are some programs out there that claim to be able to do this, but I’ve never used them. Do a Google search for it.
As for everyone else: This is why it is so critical that we all use Time Machine to back up. Your photos alone make it worth the cost of a hard drive.

You can always email them to yourself, though I believe the images get compressed when you do that. If they are critically important, I’d consult with an expert to get them off the phone in their original format.

Can you do any of this pky hot iPhone cause I only have pics on my computer from my iPhone and they are all in one big photo album and I want to slipt them up can I to that with a windows computer?

Remove it? You mean delete the app? You can’t delete the default iPhone apps. You can just put them on the last page of your apps if you like.

Nope not on the “Camera Roll” either. I’ll try Mac support. Note to self, take pictures of people using normal camera mode and then put them on contacts hehe.

I have taken some pictures straight onto the contact’s info and can’t seem to find where the picture is actually “stored.” I would like to use these pics for other things, posting, emailing etc. How do I access these photos to transfer them?

deepak: An album is just a collection of photos. Create one in iPhoto and then in iTunes, while syncing your iPhone, select to sync that album under the iPhone photos. Then, to view it ias a slideshow in the iPhone, just view the album and press the “play” button.

Hey not tried this but at least its a thought turn of the sync in itunes for the photos to make sure that it doesnt get deleted then plug your phone in and open up iphoto. My iphone appears in there as a camera and I can import the images in from there like a normal camera

JS: Have you found a solution to your problem? I have the exact same problem…accidently deleted all photos from my Mac and want to transfer the synced photos from my iphone back onto my computer but am afraid to loose them in a sync back…any thoughts or solutions??

JS: Have you thought about taking the phone to the Apple Store? Make an appointment at a Genius Bar and see if they can help. Otherwise, look for another 3rd-party solution since that one didn’t work. Keep in mind that emailed photos are smaller than the ones on the phone itself, so emailing might not be a good solution at all.
Another idea is to use the Preview app on your Mac. Open up Preview, plug in your iPhone, and choose File, Import Image.

great tip, this one, but I have a query…
following a recent hard disc crash on my iMac, I have a photo library of 500 odds photos from before the crash. I’ve not been able to recover any data from the drive crash, so was wanting to transfer these photos back to iPhoto. Of course, iPhoto syncs with iPhone, but I’m not sure if it can sync these previous (not on camera roll) photos back into iPhoto. I’m currently emailing them one at a time back to my mail address… Is ther a faster and more efficient way to do this transfer? (I’ve also tried some apps like iPhonerip, but under the photo import setting, there is no info – ie, “0kb on disc”, when I know that I have photos stored…)
Hoping that this post is understandable, and that there is a solution…

The best way to do it is to create a new album in iPhoto called “iPhone” or something like that. Then put in it only the photos you want to transfer to your iPhone. Then set your iPhone in iTunes to sync only that album and nothing else.
