Pause Notifications

To take a break from notifications in Mountain Lion, you can Option + click on the notifications icon in the upper right corner to turn them off. Option + click again to turn them back on, or they will resume tomorrow morning.

To take a break from notifications in Mountain Lion, you can Option + click on the notifications icon in the upper right corner . . . . .
This is all fine and well, but where do I find the Notifications Icon ?
I have Snow Leopard and am disappointed that all your new items refer to Lion and Mountain Lion only.
Anyway, if you can disconnect me from Mountain Lion notifications, please do so.
    Thank you. RK

Notifications are a feature of Mountain Lion. So they are not in Snow Leopard or Lion.
I always do my tutorials on the latest OS and software. I don't remove the old tutorials, of course, so there are plenty of old ones that were made during the Snow Leopard era.
