Description
This is an easy to use but powerful image editor. Most of the features non-professionals need to create awesome images.
This is an easy to use but powerful image editor. It supports "layers". Imagine GIMP/Photoshop "light" - most of the features non-professionals need to create awesome images.
This incredible software is originally the amazing work of Mark Pazolli and many others (see the credits in the user guide).
The app is still open-source and is available at https://github.com/robaho/seashore
Enjoy!

This app is great! Has all the functions youll ever need. It is straightforward, light, and simple to use. After reading the lower rated reviews I realized that they were all due to user error and proves that they have never used any sort of photo editing software before.
This is basically gimp for mac but more lightweight and with more features. It is free and opensource so there is no reason not to try it out
Probably full of bugs
Within 5 minutes of using this application for my intended purpose of ADDING TEXT TO AN IMAGE, I found what seems to be an application breaking bug.
When you find one this early, there’s got to be loads more..
Try this at home!
Equip the text tool, Use it to write some horrifically small text, then try and increase the size to 24. Upon setting the font, the text will disappear and BOOM, you now have a zombie layer. It cannot be deleted, nor can you get text to reappear. The text box is all you can manipulate at this point, no other tools will be useable.
Want to quit? Don’t worry, you can’t. You can use any method you choose. Upon attempting to quit you’ll be asked to save your progress or not. I chose no, but was instantly faced with the application again. No change. So I tried to command-q out; nope, nothing.
You will be forced to deal with calling on the operating system to force quit the application. Then, FINALLY, the application has no choice but to end.
This is forked from GIMP, supposedly, but WOW how is it this broken?
I’ve used GIMP in the past, and think of it as a last resort tool that will absolutely get the job done, but will take a lot longer due to the complexity of the program… but at least it works.
Developer Response ,
Have you watched the video on using the text tool? The displayed size of the text is based on the chosen font size and the dpi of the document.
I have tried to understand what your issue is and I’m sorry but I can’t. It would be very helpful if you filed an issue on github with a video. I try to address any bugs as quickly as I can. No one has reported a problem with the text tool in quite a while - although I can’t say for certain there isn’t one.
Fantastic App
I love Seashore - it's easy to use for most photo editing tasks I need, without Adobe's exorbitant licensing model, and there's an option to support the developer for only $6, which I happily did as it's a no-brainer for me given all I can do with it.
My only feature request would be to add a Glyphs menu so I can use alternate characters in my OTF fonts.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for the kind words and support. I will file a feature request for the Glyphs function.
