MacMost: Making the most of your Mac, iPhone, iPod, and Apple TV.

Hi Gary,
When I download pictures from my digital camera onto my MacBook Pro, the import gets stuck in the middle of the download.  I can’t close out without using the iPhoto force quit.  Then when I open iPhoto again it says I have photos in my iPhoto library that have not been imported. At that point I complete the process.  The photos are described as Recovered photos.  I have had this problem ever since I got Snow Leopard. What can I do to fix this?
Perplexed,
Janet

  1. I would suspect problems with the media card. If you have all the pictures from it, I would re-format the card. There is usually an option to do that right in the camera’s menus. Or, consider getting a new card.
You can also try a media card reader instead of transferring from the camera to the Mac. This is often faster, and may solve the problem if the issue is with the camera itself or the cable.

      Hi Gary,
I reformatted my memory card and tried downloading pictures again. It worked like a charm! Thanks for the good advice. Now I know why you were so highly recommended.
By the way, I have your book and am using it to learn how to use my MacBook Pro, which is my first laptop (replacing my PC) and my first Apple product.
      Thanks again,
      Janet
