Hi Gary,
When I download pictures from my digital camera onto my MacBook Pro, the import gets stuck in the middle of the download.  I can’t close out without using the iPhoto force quit.  Then when I open iPhoto again it says I have photos in my iPhoto library that have not been imported. At that point I complete the process.  The photos are described as Recovered photos.  I have had this problem ever since I got Snow Leopard. What can I do to fix this? Perplexed,
Janet

  1. I would suspect problems with the media card. If you have all the pictures from it, I would re-format the card. There is usually an option to do that right in the camera’s menus. Or, consider getting a new card.
You can also try a media card reader instead of transferring from the camera to the Mac. This is often faster, and may solve the problem if the issue is with the camera itself or the cable.

      Hi Gary,
I reformatted my memory card and tried downloading pictures again. It worked like a charm! Thanks for the good advice. Now I know why you were so highly recommended.
By the way, I have your book and am using it to learn how to use my MacBook Pro, which is my first laptop (replacing my PC) and my first Apple product.
      Thanks again,
      Janet

Hi Gary, I have another question and I could really use your help. It’s embarrassing but I spent a good portion of my day trying to figure this out, thinking it must be so simple! But it’s just not fully working for me no matter what I try, so:
How do I simply email a picture that I’ve downloaded to iphoto ’09?

I cannot close out of iphoto. It froze on me while editing and two days later is still frozen. How do I proceed?

Hi Gary, well I’m new In the macbook world so I don’t know much about it, I’ve been trying to download photos from my camera to my macbook and when I press the import bottom I can’t, it says that there are problems downloading, I hadn’t import nothing yet and the number of photos and videos I want to import it’s increasing!
how can I download photos from my camera?

  5. Sari Castro says:

I can’t download it in Image Capture either, it says there was an error while importing, I guess I’ll go to the Genius Bar. Thank you anyways.

I will probably feel stupid after this is answered but I am trying to put a disk of pix onto iphoto and they are coming up on my finder one at a time…. I can’t figure out how to make them into a file that can be moved all at one time. (It is an album with close to 1000 pix!)

    • Perhaps you are viewing it with a Finder window set to something other than list or icon view? Try change it to list view for that window. Or, maybe you are looking at those photos in something other than the Finder (like Preview). If you can locate them in the Finder, you can select them all and drag them into iPhoto.

If I must reformat, how do I do it? Thx!
