The iPhone stocks application is a simple app that displays the current stock price of a list of stocks that you provide.

The main screen shows the stock symbol, the current price, and the relative change for the day. Red is used to indicate a falling price, green to show a rising price. The chart at the bottom of the screen shows graph of the stock price for the selected stock.
Pressing the i button at the bottom right of the screen will bring up the list of stocks you are tracking so you can edit them. You can click on the button to the left of the stock to delete it from your list. You can also click on the % or Numbers buttons on the bottom to choose to display a percentage of change, rather than actual dollars per share value.
You can re-arrange the stocks by pressing and dragging the right end of the stock line up or down.

To add a stock, press on the + button at the top of the screen. You can then type the symbol of the stock or the stock name and it will look up the stock symbol for you.

Is it possible to change the way the name of the stock is displayed i.e. from IXIC to NASDAQ?
Not that I know of.
I would like to add non us stocks e.g. stocks listed on londin stock exchange, but no joy. Any ideas on how this can be done?
peter: I just tried adding one and it worked: “RDSA.L” This is a Yahoo application, so anything you enter into Yahoo Finance should work.
Is it possible to add mutual funds such as AGF china focus class from canada. I know the code (agu*chi) but the application can’t find anything.
drmarkz: The stocks app pulls its data from Yahoo. So if you figure out how to refer to the stock in Yahoo, then it should work in the stocks app. However, there are also many good third-party apps that show stocks too.
Is there any way to remove the graph? I just want the list with the numbers.
aeiseman: No, there really aren’t any options. It is a simple app. If you want something more custom, you may want to find a Web site that shows stocks like you want, and then create an icon bookmark for that Web site.
Thank you!
Is there a way to remove this ap? I do not need it
John: No, you can’t remove the built-in apps, at least not yet. But you can move it to the last screen to get it out of your way.
The default stock app is for amateurs ….
Have you guys checked out PortfolioLive? I use it each and every day to track 3 of my portfolios (45 stocks in total). It is super easy to use, has advanced Portfolio management features (like shorts, multiple lots, cash). The devs are also releasing updates very frequently …
Oh and it has an awesome real-time stock engine … you can barely see the little communication icon go off. No charts but there is no easier way to check your stocks while at line at the deli.
I’d like to get spot gold and silver prices from this application, not a separate webpage. One poster suggested using “xauusd” for gold but that does not work. I’ve searched yahoo since I understand the iphone app uses yahoo’s stock engine but haven’t found any symbols that give spot gold and silver prices.
Any suggestions?
It is just a matter of finding the Yahoo stock code for those things. Whatever works in Yahoo finance should work in the app. I don’t know what they would be, though.
Looks like gold may be ^YHOh714 and silver may be ^YHOh715
I found them by searching for “gold prices yahoo” and then getting to a Yahoo “Industry Center” page, and then clicking on the “Gold” link to go to a regular finance page which used the code. Same for Silver.
how can I add the TXS Composite to the list of exchanges?
Search through Yahoo finance until you find the code for it.
Found it! Thanks
