I have a long list of bookmarks in Safari and I am starting to have trouble finding the names of some as quickly as I would like. I haven’t found an easy way to sort them; like maybe in alphabetical order. This would be very helpful to me if I could sort them.

Can Bookmarks Be Sorted In Safari?

There's no easy way to do it. You can arrange them as much as you like, so you can sort them manually. If you are doing that, you might as well just put them into bookmarks folders by category while doing so, then they will be easier to find.
One way people have done it is to drag and drop all of their bookmarks to a folder in the finder. Then delete them in Safari. Then drag them all back in.
But you can just avoid this whole problem by not worrying about the order of the bookmarks. Just search instead. You can search from a search field at the bottom right in the Edit Bookmarks view. But you can also just start typing in Safari's main address field and you will get results from your bookmarks as well as history. This is what I do to find a bookmark.
Wouldn't opening Safari's sidebar, choosing bookmarks and dragging in the order Les wants do the trick? He can even make new folders to contain bookmarks by subject also, e.g. Health, MUGs, CheckFacts, Financial etc.
I use a tiny program called safarisort and it will alphabetize your bookmarks automatically. The only drawback is when you add new ones, you have to use the program again to alphabetize them again. It will do all bookmarks at one time though.
