Do You Know Anything About Mac Tonic?

Suddenly, while checking/using Launchpad, I noticed something new had been added: [Mac Tonic]
I researched on the net, while most see it as beneficial, one or two recommend removal as it is considered “malware”.

Gary, do you know anything about Mac Tonic?

I have never heard of Mac Tonic before, but a quick search turns up that it is unwanted adware and possibly even malware. I didn't see anyone claiming it was beneficial.

I'd remove it. Plenty of sites list the instructions. Looks like you just delete it from your Applications folder, delete the ~/Library/Application Support/MCR folder, and then delete it from Login Items in System Preferences, Users & Groups.

To get rid of Mac Tonic adware,
    Open up the Utilities folder
    • Locate the Activity Monitor icon on the screen and double-click on it
    • Under Activity Monitor, find the entry for Mac Tonic, select it and click Quit Process
    • A dialog should pop up, asking if you are sure you would like to quit the Mac Tonic executable... more details https://macsecurity.net/view/194-remove-mac-tonic-virus
