Finding Photos That Do Not Have Faces Data Assigned To Them

Is there a way to put all the photos that have not faces data assigned to them and put them into a folder so I can more easily go through and assign faces. My photo library is big (25000+ photos) and I’m trying to add faces to all photos that I can. Going through each photo to see if it already has faces data attached to it is taking a long time. Any other hints to quickly add faces to photos.

There are probably a few ways to do it. One is to click on People in the left sidebar. Then select all (Command+a). Then File, New Album. Call this album "Have Faces."

Then create a new Smart Album with "Album" "is not" "All Faces."

I'm not sure how useful that will be. After all, what if a photo has two people in it, but only one face has been properly marked. Seems like it is better to use the regular way to add faces. That would be to go to People. Click a person. Go to the bottom and look for "Confirm Additional Photos." Do it again and again, as confirming more will lead to more being identified.

I like doing this as it is also a nice way to see photos you haven't looked at in a while.

You can also just flip through your photos in any way you want (all, an album, moments, etc) and have the View, Show Face Names turned on. Then you get to see "unnamed" appear when it doesn't know and fill it in. This is the only way to really do a complete job.
