I have a new MacBook Pro 2020 13” that was released in June 2020. I use Catalina 10.15.5. Apple support verified that they don’t have a compatible external player for this new laptop!! How can I find one? Googling my request doesn’t show any that specifically work with my new laptop, and I don’t want to buy one that’s not compatible. Thanks for any help.

How Do I Find an External CD/DVD Drive?

CD/DVD drives aren't for a specific type of computer. Any one should work. Your new MacBook Pro has USB-C ports, so you'll need to get an adapter or a replacement cable as I'm sure any CD/DVD drive will use USB-A. But if you are connecting through a hub then you've got USB-A there.
Just search for "usb dvd drive" on Amazon and tons of them come up. Apple does have its own too, so I'm not sure why someone told you otherwise. https://www.apple.com/us/search/DVD+Drives
Thank you, Gary. Believe it or not Apple's current external cd/dvd drive is not compatible with my new Macbook pro 2020 13" just released this month. I have one that worked on my MacBook pro 2018, but it doesn't work. Apple support told me they do not have one yet for this new release. I complained to Apple, but support doesn't know when they'll release one. I'm trying to find another manufacturer that has one.
Jan: According to the site, it is compatible. Are you sure the one you have just isn't having a problem? There shouldn't be anything about it that would make it not work with a 2020 MacBook. But there are tons of others on Amazon, as I pointed out, that will work. Many are pretty cheap.
