Upgraded my MacBook to MacOS Big Sur successfully.
1. Is the MacOS Big Sur upgrade file stored on the Hard Drive?
2. If so, can it be deleted (file size during the upgrade is 12.18 GB)
As the file size during the upgrade was 12.18GB, I just wanted to free up space on the hard drive, if the file is being stored on the HD.

There's nothing you need to do. The files downloaded for the installation are either moved into place or deleted when not needed anymore and there is nothing left after the install.
