Is There a Pages To PDF File Conversion Shortcut?

An automator or script to convert .pages documents to .pdf right from the finder

ie. select a pages document in the finder (or docum
ents! – batch would be great!), quick action to make pdf version of the document/s in the same place (folder).

I have many pages documents that I need to upload for work… but the shared files need to be in pdf format. It takes a long time to open each individual document in pages and export from pages … it would be nice to be able to … quick action convert in one step.

It seems like there should be a way to do this in Shortcuts, but the obvious actions don't produce results.
So you are stuck with opening them in Pages and exporting.
You can do it fairly quickly though, even for many documents.
Select all of the Pages documents you want to convert. Not sure if "many" is 5 or 50 for you, but if more than 10 I would do them in groups of 10 or less.
Then Command+O to open them all.
Then in Pages, use Command+P to print. Then Command+P to use the "PDF" button. Then the first time set the destination. You don't need to do that step again. Then Return to "Save." Then Command+W to close the document.
Then repeat for the next one: Command+P, Command+P, Return, Command+W. Repeat until done.

You can do it easy with Apple Shortcut. I had the same thing months ago.

Chris: I haven't had any luck with that. Using the "Make PDF From" action? I just tried it again and it creates a PDF of the source of the file, not rendering it. Have you tried your Shortcut recently with a Pages document? If it works, I'd love to know which actions are in it.

Chris: Does that work for you? It is similar to mine but has several problems and fails to work in the same way mine does. It gets the name of the file, but doesn't use the name anywhere. Then it opens the file in Pages, but doesn't do anything with that. So those two parts don't do anything. It then goes back to the same file and used "Make PDF From" which is what I tried before. But then the result is the same: a PDF file with the code of the Pages document (a mess of characters) not the document itself in any usable form.

I had the same issue that you mention. But after rebuilding that Shortcut it seems to work again. So for me it work´s perfect.

But what was the issue in the old one, i can´t tell you.

I reuse the retrieved file name of the Pages document as the name for the PDF document so that the PDF and the Pages document have the same name.

Chris; So it sounds like a buggy implementation of that "Make PDF From" action. Others should probably hold off going with this method until it is more reliable. I know I would, if I could even get it to work once.

I created a "Word to PDF" Quick Action, accessible in Finder's context menu several months ago when I was playing around trying to learn something else. Unfortunately I forget how I did it. So all I can report with accuracy is that it is possible. Sorry.
