Replacing a Hard Drive in a MacBook Pro

Hi Gary,

I’m going to buy the Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid 320GB Drive (link: http://tinyurl.com/2fxvttg ). But I have a question:

When I install the new drive in my MacBook Pro (13″ – first model), how do I install OS X on there (fresh install)? After I turn on the Mac, do I insert the install disc and hold down the c key till the installer comes up? Do I then go ahead by formatting the drive to HFS Journaled with Disk Utility (making sure it’s set to GUID)?
Is there something I’m forgetting?

    You've got the basic idea, yes. Just back up that old drive before you start, of course. And keep it around in case the new drive doesn't work once you do the swap.
    Booting from the DVD will give you the option to format the drive before installing the OS.
