Why do you think Microsoft would stop developing Skype for Mac?
Microsoft actively develops and markets Office for Mac, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. They work with Apple to have Microsoft Exchange work on Macs, iPhones and iPads. They convinced Apple to add Bing as an option in Safari and on iOS. They have a Bing, MS Live Messenger and several other Apps in the iTunes app store.
I would imagine that Microsoft wants Skype to grow and expand now that they own it. So removing the Mac and iOS platforms doesn't make any sense. People would then migrate to new services that work across all platforms and their $8 billion investment would soon be worth nothing.
great !
Steve Balmer officialy confirmed that none of the Skype versions will be stopped: Windows of course, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, Android, BlackBerry or Symbian. Some other can be added as well, and he said he wants to use Skype as the main communication platform of all MS products. There are rumours about Messenger being replaced by Skype...
