Grabbing video from your desktop

Is there a way to capture a screen grab of video from your desktop? Can Quicktime capture video from another site? Any other suggestions?

You can grab video in a number of ways. You can use QuickTime X to do it (See episode 288: http://macmost.com/quicktime-x-screen-recording.html). You can use a variety of third party programs to do it with more features:

What do you mean by "capture video from another site" -- do you mean you want to download a video you see online?
In that case it depends on what the site has to offer. Some sites will offer a way to download a video. Some sites will work hard to prohibit it (they don't want you to view it offline, and you should respect that).
Can you be more specific about what you are trying to do?
