How Can I Open 3Ds Files On My Mac Book Pro?

I have downloaded a 3Ds file but I am not able to read it on my Mac. I intend on printing a 3D model from the file. I am using Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6 and my Mac is 5 years old.

You help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

You need to get an app that handles that type of file. If you search the Mac App Store for "3ds" you'll come up with a few hits. You can read about them to see if any of them will fit your needs.

I believe that by "3ds" file you probably mean a file created by Autodesk 3ds Max. That's Windows app, with no Mac version, so if you really need to use this file to its fullest, then your Mac isn't the right tool. But if you just need to open it and print it, maybe one of those apps can help.

Another option is to go back to the source of the file and see if there is another file format you can download, or perhaps they can provide you with a simple 2D image instead.
