Every other line in a folder is shaded a touch darker … is there a way to adjust the amount of shading to make it darker?
It would be easier to delineate each line from one another

You can do it using System Settings (System Preferences if you are still back at macOS Monterey), Accessibility, Display, Increase Contrast.
This will, of course, increase the contrast of everything. But if you are having trouble with this particular element, maybe you are having the same issue elsewhere so that would be useful.
You also maybe be able to adjust the contrast of your screen if that is an option for you. You don't mention what kind of display you have so I don't know.
But otherwise there is no setting for the alternative row shade in the Finder.
I'm having trouble understanding what this question is all about. When I look at the content of a folder in Finder, I don't see alternate lines shaded. Where does this occur?
Patrick: Are you using List view? That's where you would see them.
I usually use column view, but I switched to list view and now see shaded lines, but the shading is so faint that I didn't notice them before. I guess that's what the original post was talking about.
