I am able to change the name of my AirPods but once they disconnect the name reverts to the default name. No matter how many times I change the name it never remembers it and always reverts back. This is so frustrating. How do I achieve this simple settings change?

You mention that you can change the name, but then it doesn't stick. Unfortunately, you don't mention HOW you are doing this so I don't have any idea if this method is the one not working for you.
To change the name, use your iPhone or iPad. Go to Settings, Bluetooth, and then tap the i button next to the AirPods. Then there is a field you can use to edit the name.
Is that what you are doing already? If that isn't working, then I'll need more details. What are you changing it FROM and TO? Have you tried other names? What actions do you take when the name reverts. For instance, are you only ever using them with your iPhone and nothing else? Or, does the name revert when you switch devices? Details are important...
Hi Gary. How you described the the exact way I am attempting to change the name. Both my iPad & iPhone revert back to the default name when I change from Lee's AirPods to just AirPods however my iMac has remembered the name and keeps it as I set it.
Lee: Ah, so you tried to change it to "AirPods"? OK, try another name. Or just use "AirPods " (with an added space at the end). There is a known bug with using the exact name "AirPods."
