Hello Gary,
I used to have a short, two letter password for my MacBook Pro. Now, after doing an install of Catalina, I’m required to use at least 4 characters. Is there a simple way to change back to the 2 letters?
Thank you,
Chris

I don't know of any way to get around this requirement. But you should definitely have a longer password than 2 characters, as you probably know. I wouldn't do anything less than 8 for a user password, and completely random with numbers, letters and capitals too. Anything less is basically like leaving your front door unlocked.
Thank you for answering so quickly! I use my computer mostly at home and often run into the other room to get a coffee and having to type in a longer password seems a bit cumbersome.
Chris: Keep in mind that this password can be used to access your Mac if you have any sharing turned on (file sharing, screen sharing, etc). Even if you have these off, it is so easy to forget and turn one on for a simple task and then forget too turn it off. Your user account password is much to important to be short and weak. I type my long password 30 or 40 times a day and am happy to do so.
Great point, Gary. You've convinced me to do the right thing and keep pw a bit more challenging. Thank you very much for your help.
