How Do I Change Two Spaces To One Space Through a Document?

How do I use find and replace to replace spaces, return, tabs, soft returns and so on with different combinations of the same?

I am using Catalina 10.15.6 and the current Pages. Primarily I need to change two spaces after a period to one space after a period.

I would just do a find and replace on ". " (period space space) with ". " (period space).

For invisible characters, you can use the standard \t for tabs, and \n for returns. Not sure what you mean by a "soft return" though.

It also works if you select a tab or return in the text, copy, and then paste it into the find dialog.
