How Do I Delete a Photo In an Album and Also Have It Delete In the Library?

When using photos I set up albums and put pictures in the albums. For example, I have albums for flowers, home remodeling, etc. Often I’m in the album and decide to delete a particular photo. But then I have to go back to my library and hunt for the picture (sometimes from years ago!) in order to delete it from the library. Is there an easier way to do this?

I would like the photo to be deleted in the library at the same time I delete it in the album. Thanks!

I have over 37,000 photos in my library and REALLY need to do some heavy-duty editing! Many of these photos are from years and years ago. The easiest way for me to edit them is to go through the albums and delete them. It’s frustrating to have to go back through 37,000 photos to find the one I just deleted from the album to delete it from the library. Many of the photos are very similar and it’s hard to figure out which one to delete from the library.

I feel like the only solution would be to create separate libraries for each album, but that would be really clunky when I wanted to find a particular “album” of pictures.

Thanks!

When you select a photo in an album and then press the Delete key, it removes the photo from the album. You can see this by checking in the Image menu and you should see "Remove 1 Photo From Album" as the last item, with the keyboard shortcut of Delete.

If you hold down the Command key while looking at this menu, you'll see the last menu item change to "Delete 1 Photo" with Command+Delete as the shortcut.

So Command+Delete is what you want. Be careful when using this, of course.
