I have a MBP with 512 GB SSD. My Mac is now running short with space. I have a 2TB iCloud account.
How can I free space on my mac and store files on my iCloud.
If I delete files on MBP, they would also be gone from iCloud.

First, it is important to get the terms right as this could lead to unintended consequences. "Memory" refers to the amount of RAM on your Mac that is used to run the system and apps. What you are talking about is "storage" not "memory." Sorry to have to point that out, but I don't want you to run into any problems or waste time and money by using the wrong term.
To free up storage on your MacBook you first need to identify what is taking up the space. Two examples are: files and photos. But there are others, such as apps.
If it is files that is taking up the space, then you can go to System Preferences, iCloud, iCloud Drive (options) and turn on Optimize Mac Storage. This will allow your Mac to offload files so they don't take up local storage space. But those files will still be on your iCloud Drive. And you will still see them on your Mac, but the data inside those files won't be on your Mac, they will be automatically downloaded when you try to access the files. You can do the same if the problem is Photos. But the setting is Photos, Preferences, iCloud, Optimize Mac Storage.
For both of these, don't expect instant results. It will take time for your Mac to figure out which files/photos to offload.
