I am looking for a particular paragraph I wrote in 2014. It contained a specific word which I wouldn’t have used elsewhere. But I don’t know how to search for it.

So do you mean you have the document open, and now you want to search inside it? Which app? Pages? If so, use Command+F (Edit, Find, Find) and type the work and hit Return.
No, I can't find the document, which is the problem. I wonder if there is a way of locating a single word, without knowing the name of the document it's in. Thank you for your help.
Julia: Ah, OK. That wasn't clear from your question. Spotlight does let you search for text in the content of your files. If you just do a normal Spotlight search (Command+Space, type the word) it should find the document if it is on your drive and s standard word processing document (TextEdit, Pages, Word, text, rtf, etc).
