I recently purchase 21.5″ iMac running Catalina. I am using Numbers 10.0 (6748). I replaced an iMac that I owned since February 2010 (still running great). I was using the Apple version of Excel. I though I would not install it and learn Numbers, which has been working out for me (with a twist). Although there are some features of Excel that I liked & needed, such as locking only one cell so no could accidentally over wright a formula. Although at this point it’s not a deal breaker, but it would be great if I could do that. Can it be done without locking the entire spreadsheet? Thank you!

You can't lock a single cell. You have to lock entire tables. So you can always design a spreadsheet so that the input values are in one table, and the calculations are performed in another, which is then locked.
Using multiple tables is the big difference between Excel and Numbers and why many people love Numbers so much.
Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. Ok, I guess I will have to make this work. Your solution will work out fine when I create a new file. Although I have a couple of work books that I saved as a .numbers file that I will have to use without the cells being Locked. Again..... Thank you so much for your answer.
