How Do I Make MacBook 12 Inch Retina To Recognise Pen Drive and Hard Drive?

My MacBook 12 inch retina Early 2015 with Mojave version does not recognize external hard drive and pen drive. It does not mount and does not show on the desktop screen. It does not show in disk utility app. It also does not show in the Finder.

    Is this the MacBook with a single USB-C port? How are you connecting the drives? Are they USB-C or are you using a USB adapter? The same adapter for each one? If so, then perhaps that adapter is bad.

    Do you have any other USB devices? If so, which ones work and which ones do not? Are these using the adapter too?
