How Do I Migrate Photos From a Dell XPS To My Photo Library On a Hard Drive?

I have around 14K photos on my old Dell XPS. I need to migrate them to my Photo Library. 1. How can I do that effectively? 2. All of these photos on the Dell are named and in specific folders, is there a way to keep that organization? At least the photo Name so I can easily tag them in Photo?

The only way to do it is to transfer the files over to your Mac in whatever networking setup you have. Then drag and drop them into Photos.

If the filename is something you set, like "Summer Picnic 7.jpg" then you should at least see that in Photos as the filename for the photo. You can just leave it as that or add a new title to the photo if you wish.

Everything else depends on the metadata for the photo. If the files don't have metadata, you'll end up with a mess of new photos with today's date and time. If they have good metadata from the camera (time, location, etc) then it should be just like importing them when you originally took them.
