I bought a ringtone for my iPhone 5SE iOS 11.2 which appears in the list of sounds on iTunes but does not work on the phone. This disappeared with a previous update. I read your instructions to get a new ringtone but it doesn’t work with the already purchased tone. Help would be appreciated please.

You do that in the Settings app. Go to Sounds & Haptics. Then tap on a sound event, such as Ringtone or Text Tone. Then you should see a button near the top "Download All Purchased Tones." This should give you back any ringtones you purchased from iTunes.
Thank you for your help. I think the problem is that the ringtone was not bought from iTunes. It is a classical piece of music!

Again thank you for your help. I have your instruction in a PDF file.The only place I have the ringtone is in the folder where iTunes is stored. I copied the ringtone from that folder and placed it on the desktop and did exactly as it states in your video. As that didn't work I deleted it from iTunes. Then reinstalled it. The ringtone appears in Sounds and plays when I click on it but then when anyone phones me the tone is one I've not chosen. I just have to accept defeat but thanks again
Gill: Are you setting it as your ringtone under Settings, Sounds & Haptics, Ringtone? Do you have a custom ringtone set for the caller in your Contacts app?
I read that apparently the SE doesn't have Haptics, not that I know what that is. I haven't used any custom ringtone for callers in my contacts
Gill: If you have the iPhone SE, then I think the setting category is just "Sounds." If you have no ringtones set in Contacts, and you are sure that your ringtone is set in Settings, then I'm not sure why you are getting a different sound. Check and recheck everything. Perhaps a visit to the Genius Bar will clear things up.
