How Do I Reverse Highlighting Words In Pages?

I need to ‘unhighlight’ sections of words in Pages on my Macbook Air, as the highlight is no longer required but the words are. I purchased my laptop in May 2019. It is now updated to macOS Catalina.

It depends on what you mean by highlighting. For instance, did you simply apply a background color to that text? If so, you can re-apply a background color, but choose the "no color" chip, the one that looks white but has a red line drawn through it.

Or, do you mean the highlighting that is part of commenting and annotating the document, as if you were doing some collaborative editing? If that case these are "comments" and you can choose View, Show Comments Pane to see all of those listed and click the Delete buttons the ones you want to remove. This deletes the highlight, but not the contents. You also have an Edit, Remove Highlights and Comments command that will remove everything at once if that is what you want.
