How Do I Stop Getting Emails From a me.com Alias?

In May of 2016 someone asked this question and it seems one cannot stop the emails from @me.com from populating iCloud. You answered why would one want to or unsubscribe etc. I had to change my email from @me to @icloud since I was getting incredible levels of spam. No amount of wasteful hours unsubscribing ever works. Is there a work around?

So you mean you are getting spam to example@me.com and you are using example@icloud.com -- the part of your email address before the @ is the same in both cases? That's how @icloud.com email addresses work. The @me.com and @mac.com are the same as @icloud.com. They are the same email address.

If you are sure that every email you get addressed to @me.com is spam, and you never want to see them, then set up a rule to delete them. Do this by going to the iCloud.com web site. Log in. Go to Mail. Then click on the settings icon at the bottom left. Then set a rule that any email addressed to your @me.com email address should go directly to the trash.

Then test it. Test it by sending yourself something to @me.com and another to @icloud.com. Do this from another email account entirely (or have a friend do it). Make sure the right one gets deleted and the right one gets through.

Yes have done so but the emails keep coming and keep populating trash. One then still has to delete those. Is there no way of stopping this at the server?

Robert: If you'd rather, choose "Move To Folder" and "junk" instead of trash. The advantage of Trash is that email is automatically deleted in 30 days, and you never have to look in there. Just ignore them. No reason to look in trash unless you accidentally put something in there. In "junk" I'm not sure if they delete after 30 days (maybe), but you may want to check in there for false positives every once in a while. If you like, pretend that "trash" doesn't exist and consider anything in there deleted.
