How Do I Temporarily Lock Screen Orientation On an iPad Air 2 Screen?

Using iPad Air 2. In Dropbox I am using instructions to make something. The pages in the downloaded file are landscape, when the iPad is turned, so I can read it, the screen orientation turns again. Can I temporarily lock orientation on the screen? It’s very tiring trying to read sideways! Thanks.

Note: On the Mac I can rotate the screen, but I prefer to use the iPad by my sewing machine.

Yes, you can lock the orientation of your iPad screen using the Control Center. Just swipe up from the bottom of the screen with one finger to being up the Control Center. I usually start with my finger just outside the edge of the screen at the bottom, and move it up quickly a few inches.
Once you see the Control Center, look for the orientation lock button. It looks like a padlock with a circle-arrow around it. Tap it to turn it on. Now your screen won't re-orient as you turn the iPad. Tap it again when you want to turn it off.
The Dropbox apps seem to work well with this, so I hope it works for your PDF. But sometimes apps circumvent the orientation lock and turn anyway. That can be expected when you use an app that only works in one orientation -- games often do. But other apps sometimes do it too.

Thank Gary, spot on as always. Worked a treat, so simple, but very hard if you don't know where to look.
