So are the photos right now in Google Photos? If so, one option is to simply keep them in Google Photos. You can get the Google Photos app for iPhone and just keep going with that.
Otherwise, if you want to make the move from Google Photos to the Apple Photos app and perhaps iCloud Photos, then it is just a matter of installing the Google Photos app on your new iPhone, signing in so you have access to all of your Photos, and then using the Share function in Google Photos to share them all to your Apple Photos app.
Thank you. Can the photos be deleted from Google after being shared? Does it actually move or make copies which makes it safe to delete the photos in Google? Thanks again.
Scott: It should be sharing copies. Make sure you share the full-sized original photos (not sure what the options are when you share as I don't use Google Photos myself). I would make very sure that your photos are safe on your new phone and backed up before deleting them from Google Photos. Is there any rush to delete them? If it were me I wouldn't bother to delete them at all, preferring just to leave them in that account for a long while as another backup. Photos are precious.
I use an app called PhotoSync in addition to the suggestions Gary has made. The app is free on android and windows devices if I recall correctly, but just a few dollars for iOS devices. The app will allow sending fotos between devices. Fast, efficient and also keeps track of what was sent.
