iBooks Syncing Between iPad and iPhone

I have purchased a number of books using ibooks on my iPad. However, when I access the ibooks app on my iPhone I cannot see them there.
Why is this?

    You need to download them on your iPhone to see them on your iPhone. It won't automatically assume you want them on both devices.
    Just go to iBooks, go to the Store section, and then tap the "Purchased" button. Then you can download those same books to that device.
