iMac wont sleep when told to

For some time now my late 2007, 27″ imac running snow leopoard will not sleep when scheduled to via “energy saving preferences”. I’ve trashed all the relevant pref. files from the library but to no avail. Any ideas guys?

It must be either a piece of hardware or software that is keeping it awake. I would look into which devices you have connected to your Mac and test them all out one by one. Remember Bluetooth devices too.
