That is exactly how I use mine. A lot of people do. That is pretty much what they are built to do. What is your fear?

But I'm not sure what you mean by "charge it at night before turning off the MacBook." Just use it during the day, and plug it in at night or when it is convenient. No need to ever turn it off.
