I just bought my new 13” MacBook Pro today and I love it. I had a question– for applications that I download and put in the dock. When I use them and then quit, they disappear from the dock. Is there a way to keep things in the dock when I quit them?

When you run an application that does not have a shortcut in the Dock, it will appear to the right of the other application icons. Simply drag that Dock icon over to the left and drop it in a spot on the left side of the Dock. Now it will remain there.
Alternatively, you can drag and drop the application from your Applications folder down into the Dock even when the application is not running.
Yet another way to keep the item in the dock is to right-click on the item in the dock when it is running, then select Options, and then select Keep in Dock.
