I am adding 2 x 2Gb iRam memory modules to my existing 4 x 512Mb factory installed memory. iRam has informed me that it is important to consult the owners manual (which I don’t have since I purchased my computer used) and install the memory in a certain order (they call it population). Can anyone help me with this information?

It depends on the exact model of Mac Pro. Which one is it? I'd try searching for that exact model plus "ram position" or "memory configuration" as someone may have posted it online.
Gary, my computer is a 1st generation Mac Pro (Tower) 3.0Ghz Quad Core (2 x Dual Cores) either manufactured in 2006 or 2007 Serial # G87402WHUPZ. It uses PC2-5300 667Mhz ram.
I don't have the slightest idea of where to start to search for the model number or (ram position or memory configuration). I really hoped that you or someone monitoring this forum could help me.
Thanks
Hi Don,
A YouTuber called "Applesoldier" on YouTube has the first generation Mac Pro, you could send him a message. www. youtube .com/ applesoldier
Good luck
If you go to http://support.apple.com/specs/ and enter that serial number, you can find out which one you have. You have MA356LL/A.
Now you just need to search around to find someone that has posted the memory installation details -- or maybe go in to the Genius Bar and see if they can tell you.
Thanks for the model number info. I'm sure that it will be useful for future use. I went to the web site you recommended and entered my serial number and wow Apple has a lot of good info there. Thanks again.
Tom,
I tried the applesoldier YouTube site that you recommended but didn't find what I was actually looking for. I find the applesoldier to be quite interesting and will probably listen to some of his videos. Thanks for trying to help.
I think this is what you are looking for.

If not go to http://support.apple.com/manuals/ enter your serial number
Hope this helps.
Thanks a bunch, Both web sites are great not just for what I am specifically looking for but for many other things as well. They are bound to be a great help in the future. Again thanks.
I'm teacher and like make some educational apps. If i purchase the 13" MacBook Pro would it be good enought to handle it. I thinking about the one with 4gb of ram memory and getting another 4gb of ram memory for more ram speed. What software would I need?
You certainly could use that for development. But it is all subjective. Some developers would want a much larger screen for serious development work. It is all trading money for power -- spend a lot of money for a fast processor and large screen, if you have the budget. Otherwise, you'll have to make it work with the budget you have.
Most app development is done with Xcode (free from Apple). But there are lots of other ways. I would browse your local bookstore for books on development and maybe meet with some developers -- go to some local meetups and such.
