I have not been able to figure out how to group photos onto one page to save photo paper. I’m using iPHoto 8.1.2

Select the 2 or 3 photos. Choose File, Print. Then click the Customize button in the print dialog.
Use the buttons on the bottom of the page. As an example: Click Themes and choose "Simple Border." Then choose Layout and select "2." Then choose which 2-up layout you want. Then click the Print button, etc.
Different themes have different layouts available, so you can play around between themes and layouts to find something you like.
IN MY VERSION OF I PHOTO THERE IS NO [FILE] BUTTON... SO I DONT HAVE THE OPTION TO PRINT!
Every version of iPhoto has the option to print. But perhaps you aren't using iPhoto 11 (most recent). Earlier versions have the option, but it may be in a different place. Use the Help menu to learn about how to print from your version.
How do I "select" more than one photo. I click on one then if I attempt to click on another the first one is no longer selected....I know it must be simple but I have not figured it out.
On Mac OS X you can select multiple items but clicking on the first, then holding down the Command key and clicking on the second, third, fourth, etc. This is true in almost all Mac apps: the Finder, iMovie, iTunes, etc. You can also hold down the Shift key to select a range of items. And you can drag a box around several items to select them also.
