Just wondering, have you or any one else noticed that after updating yesterday to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 that the contacts and calendar data was totally erased? Mine was, and good thing I had a good time machine backup…

Interesting. No, I haven't heard of any problems like that. Haven't experienced any problems here.
I lost all me calendar and address book data also. Very annoying.
I hav not encountered ANY problems with the upgrade.
My macbook pro is acting really strange after updating. It unexpectedly shutdowns almost all applications over and over again. iTunes, Dashboard, Quicktime. Firefox works though. Can't watch any youtube videos. When i change the volume a little "forbidden" sign appears underneath the volume bar. Games don't work (Team Fortress 2), it says my hardware is not supported. This is really ****ed up. Anyone knows how to fix this?
Got it fixed, downloaded the combo update package on the mac site.
It's completely buggered my Mac Pro.... Blue Screen of Death and all that!
My Modbook would not boot (got to gray screen and stayed there) after updating to 10.6.8 with the online updater, so I downloaded the combo updater and installed it. That resulted in a kernel panic (with no reprieve). Time Machine and Super Duper to the rescue restoring 10.6.7. The problem may result from the Modbook drivers, but no information about this has been learned yet. It is just speculation. Ideas are welcomed.
yeah im having lots of issues since updating my Mac Book Pro....this update has made things slow considerably and lots of web pages hanging (2 thumbs down) i have 17inch 2.93 GHz Intel core 2 Duo 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 hope they come out with a fix for this crap soon :(
I'm not completely sure but since I have updated to 10.6.8 my time machine backups are very slow, never ending. I always get this message error in the console if I erase the drive an I start a new complete backup: CoreEndianFlipData: error -4940 returned for rsrc type FREF (id 129, length 7, native = no) com.apple.backupd[845]. Some people says that this error is because there are still files of mac os 9 in the HD, although this is true in my case, these files were before the update and nothing happened.
any ideas?
many thanks
That sounds pretty serious. You may want to have an expert look at it, or consider cloning the drive (maybe twice, for two backups) and then starting fresh with a new install of Snow Leopard, copying the data back and re-installing your applications. Then starting a new TM backup from there. I've never had anyone ask about those errors before and I have no idea what could be causing them. Mac OS 9 files are just files and that shouldn't matter for backups.
