Hi Gary,
Can you assist me with an error message I receive when accessing some websites? The message reads,
“This Connection Is Not Secure.
This website does not support connection securely over HTTPS. The information you see and enter on this website, including credit cards, phone numbers, and passwords, can be read and altered by other people.”
Is there something wrong? I thought HTTPS was supposed to be secure. What do I need to do to remedy this or is this another security feature I am not aware of.
Please advise.
I am receiving this message on webpages I thought were secure. I am not sure but, this seems to have occured after the last update. Is there a setting on my computer causing this message?
With all the hacking I’d reather check with you to be safe than sorry.

That means the site is using old http instead of https. So the connection between you and the site isn't secure. The problem is that the site ISN'T using HTTPS.
This could be because it is an old site and just never updated to use https. Or, it could be the site's secure certificate has expired.
It is usually a problem with the site, not you.
The only thing I can think of that could be on your end is if you have your Mac's time set wrong. So then the certificate's expiration doesn't match with your Mac's date. But I suppose it could also be some "security software" you have installed with your browser or something that is behaving badly. Did you try it with another browser?
