How do I make the flashing mouse pointer on my 2020 Mac pro disappear after I have clicked to insert the cursor? The flashing pointer stays and is mostly in the way when I wish to type. Thanks.
To avoid having to move the mouse cursor out of the way in order to type.

So there are two different things:
1. The "pointer." This is controlled by the mouse or trackpad and floats freely around the screen. It usually looks like an arrow, but can change to something that looks like a fancy "I" with a link in the middle when you are hovering it over a place where you can click to insert text. And it has some other forms in special situations as well.
2. The "cursor." This is usually a blinking vertical line that appears in text when you are typing.
Usually when you want to type some text in a document you move the pointer to the location where you want to type, click in it, then the text cursor appears and you have both. Start typing and then the pointer disappears. The pointer only returns when you move the mouse or trackpad. And then when you press a key on your keyboard to type again, the pointer disappears again.
So the solution is to type your first character. You could always type a space and then delete or Command+z to trigger it without typing. Of course you can always move the pointer out of the way as well. Not sure why that isn't an option for you.
You never mentioned which app you are using to type, so I can't really try it with your situation. But this is how it works pretty much anywhere.
