On my MacBook I had my wife Airdroped me photos. I see them in “Imports” but do not see them in “photos”. In the past when she airdroped me pictures I could see them in photos. Has IOS11 changed a setting?

They should be there. Are you looking at Photos, Moments, Collections or Years (at the top?). And what do you have selected at the top right as part of "Showing:"
If you go into Imports, and you Control+click on a photo, you can select "Show In Moment" to go right there.
